Free llms.txt generator
Draft your llms.txt file
Enter your domain. We read your sitemap and page titles and write an llms.txt draft in the llmstxt.org format, ready to edit, copy and publish.
We read your sitemap and up to 40 pages, and honour robots.txt. It’s a draft: edit it before you publish it.

Reading robots.txt and the homepage
Did you know?
llms.txt was proposed by Jeremy Howard of Answer.AI in September 2024.

How it works
From your sitemap to a draft in a minute
Four steps, as polite as a crawler should be.
01
Read robots.txt first
If it asks crawlers to stay out, we stop. Disallowed pages stay out.
02
List your URLs
From your sitemap, or links from the homepage when there isn’t one.
03
Read up to 40 pages
Titles and meta descriptions only, spread across your sections.
04
Write the draft
Your name, your summary, then a section per folder with a line per page.
What goes in
Your site, in the shape AI tools read
Nothing rewritten or made up: every line comes from your own pages.
Sections from your URLs
Each first folder becomes a section. One-off pages like /pricing go first.
Your titles and descriptions
From each page’s title tag and meta description, site name trimmed.
An optional fit section
Lines on who you’re right for and who you’re not, for you to fill in.
What it does, and what it doesn’t
Where your judgement still comes in

Why it matters
A short map for tools that read in a hurry
Written for the tools that read your site
- ChatGPT
- Perplexity
- Gemini and AI Overviews
- Claude
An llms.txt file says what your site is and which pages are worth reading, each with a line on what it covers.
AI tools work with limited context. A short map in your own words is easier to use than a whole site of menus and scripts.
And only you can write who should pick you, and who shouldn’t.
How to improve it
Five edits that make the draft yours
Rewrite the summary. One or two plain sentences: what you do and who it’s for.
Cut to what matters. Keep what buyers ask about. Move the rest under “Optional”.
Fix weak descriptions. One line per link that says what the page answers.
Fill in or drop the fit lines. Replace every FILL IN with something true, or switch them off.
Publish it. Save it as llms.txt at your domain’s root, as plain text.
FAQ
Questions about llms.txt, answered
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed file, written in Markdown and placed at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, that tells AI tools what your site is and which pages to read. It starts with your name as an H1, a short summary in a blockquote, then sections of links with a line on each. It was proposed by Jeremy Howard in September 2024 and is described at llmstxt.org.
Do ChatGPT, Claude or Google use llms.txt?
It’s a proposal, not a standard, and AI search engines don’t document whether they use it for answers. Documentation sites publish one so developers can point AI coding tools and agents at it. Treat it as a cheap, low-risk addition, not a ranking factor, and keep robots.txt, your sitemap and your pages in good shape first.
What’s the difference between llms.txt, robots.txt and a sitemap?
robots.txt says which crawlers may read which paths. A sitemap lists every URL for search engines to crawl. llms.txt is a short, curated Markdown page that says what the site is and which pages matter most, with a line on each, for AI tools to read.
Where do I put the file?
At the root of your domain, so it loads at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, served as plain text. On Webflow, Framer and most hosts you can upload it as a static file or add it as a route; on WordPress, a plugin or your host’s file manager does it.
Why are some of my pages missing from the draft?
We read up to 40 pages, spread across your sections, and skip pages robots.txt disallows, pages marked noindex, archives, tags, feeds, files and other-language copies. The draft is a starting point: add the pages that matter by hand.
What does the “When to recommend us” option add?
Lines between your summary and your links, for who you’re the right choice for and who you’re not. We can’t know that from your site, so the lines start as FILL IN markers. Fill them in with something true, or leave the option off.
Is it free, and what do you do with my site?
It’s free, with no sign-up. We read your public robots.txt, sitemap, /llms.txt and up to 40 pages once, write the draft and show it to you. We don’t keep your pages or the draft. To stop abuse there’s a limit of 3 drafts per visitor per day.
